Ghillie Dhu, the shy and protective guardian of the forest, known for helping lost children and weary travelers, inspired this series of mixed media paintings. My walks along the creek often feel touched by magic. Each outing reveals new secrets, and I find myself walking quietly, stopping often to listen for Ghillie Dhu. There are jewels and treasures to be found. I simply have to keep looking for them.
Each piece is created on stretched canvas using layers of tissue, wrapping paper, rice paper, and newspaper with acrylic paint, acrylic ink, and India ink. The surfaces are enriched with Prismacolor pencil, china marker, and Conté crayon, creating richly textured works that celebrate the mystery and wonder of the woodland landscape.
